Gaston learns in 3 steps

You will notice that Gaston saves you hundreds of general and repeat Alerts every day. As an intelligent medication monitor, Gaston only informs and warns you when a real decision is needed. Gaston takes three standard steps after the introduction of a new prescribed medication: check, report, process.

When you enter the data, the system checks the prescription against the following criteria:

1. Patient data: such as age, gender, laboratory results and diagnoses from the hospital information system, Electronic health record and electronic prescription system.
2. The G-standard: supplemented with allergies, contraindications, dosage controls, double medication and interactions
3. General clinical rules: the national, standard medical-pharmaceutical decision rules.
4. Your own clinical rules: you can supplement these yourself – after a short workshop.

The system offers you two ways of Alert:

1. You will receive an immediate warning or advice as soon as the combination of data gives reason to do so. You choose whether you want to receive this Alert via a pop-up, email or text message.
2. Every morning you will receive a report with a Alert overview of the data entered the previous day.

Each report leads you to the Handling module, where you indicate what you have done with the report. If the report has been processed, you will not receive the same report again.
