Gaston Lab is medical monitoring software for the clinical chemistry laboratory. It takes a patient's medical history into account and automatically links this knowledge to a series of protocols and factors. It immediately reports potentially dangerous situations. Significant reduction in the number of manually generated consultations
For an adequate interpretation of, for example, the concentration of methylmalonic acid and homocysteine, in addition to your laboratory results, the patient age and the kidney function, you need information about vitamin supplementation and the medical question behind the laboratory research. Gaston Lab uses this information when compiling an automated interpretation. Only in a few cases is manual adjustment still necessary.
Analysis for context-dependent reference or cut-off values of the ARR
According to current guidelines, aldosterone and renin should only be analyzed when all interfering medication has been stopped. In practice, however, it appears that in more than half of the cases RAAS-modulating medications have been used. There is also great heterogeneity in number and type. In addition to medication use, blood pressure and electrolyte balance also play a role. Gaston Lab automatically provides the extensive interpretation of the aldosterone-renin ratio (ARR).

Gaston Lab can detect heparin-induced thrombosispenia (HIT) faster. Days faster than a clinician, in fact, which allows for timely intervention if heparin is contraindicated.
Modules - Gaston Lab
The Guideline Module contains an editor that allows you to easily enter your own guidelines that apply to your specialty or profession via a drag and drop interface.
The Decision Module (DCS) ensures the implementation of the guidelines that have been entered with the guideline editor. It lets the computer perform all the necessary steps. This DCS communicates with all information systems around the patient, such as the EPD, the general practitioner information system (HIS), the pharmacy system (AIS), the hospital information system (HIS), the anesthesia machine or the patient monitor, but also with the electronic system of the city pharmacy or the regional laboratory (LIS).
